The Eccles Church is committed to safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults to worship and grow in Christ safely. This is done in a coordinated and supported manner and involves the church Leadership team and Children’s leaders. Concerns about children, young people and adults at risk will be diligently and promptly responded to according to our procedures, recognising the sensitivity it may hold for those involved.
Children and Young People Safeguarding
The Eccles Church has a growing children's and young people's ministry (God’s Gang). It is the intention of our church to offer support, encouragement and spiritual teaching to anyone who wishes to receive it. This means that we will come in contact with children from many different backgrounds and will encounter very different parental and social patterns.
The Eccles Church takes this responsibility very seriously and, through teaching and our safeguarding procedures, we endeavour to protect and safeguard the welfare of the children and young people entrusted to our care.
As a church, The Eccles is committed to:
• Listening to, relating effectively to, respecting and valuing children in our care
• Encouraging and supporting parents and carers
• Ensuring that children's helpers are given support and training
• Having a system for dealing with concerns about possible abuse
• Maintaining good links with the statutory child care authorities
Vulnerable Adults Safeguarding
A vulnerable adult is someone who is aged 18 years old or older, and 'who is or may be in need of community care services by reason of mental or other disability, age or illness; and who is or may be unable to take care of him or herself, or unable to protect him or herself against significant harm or exploitation'.
It is the intention of our church to offer support, encouragement and spiritual teaching to anyone who wishes to receive it. This means that we will come in contact with vulnerable adults from many different backgrounds.
The Eccles Church takes this responsibility very seriously and through teaching and our safeguarding procedures we endeavour to protect and safeguard the welfare of vulnerable adults who may come into our care.
As a church, The Eccles is committed to:
• Listening to, relating effectively to, respecting and valuing vulnerable adults in our care
• Ensuring that vulnerable adult's helpers are cared for, and given support and training
• Having a system for dealing with concerns about possible abuse
• Maintaining good links with the statutory authorities
